Margarita Tarkalanova

Attorney

Originally from Bulgaria, Margarita Tarkalanova is an immigration attorney who brings personal  and professional experience, as well as a deep passion for immigration law to our practice.

Prior to joining Killian Law Group, Ms. Tarkalanova worked for nonprofits serving underprivileged communities. She has removal defense experience mostly from her work in private practice. She specializes in humanitarian work including affirmative asylum, temporary protected status, reparole, follow-to-join petitions, T and U visas, as well as various types of adjustment of status, family-based petitions, naturalization, and removal defense. She also has experience representing clients for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status in Maryland. In law school, her studies took her to compete in the International Criminal Court’s Moot Court Competition in 2012, where she competed in and visited The Hague, Netherlands, and was privileged to tour the various facilities and observe part of an ongoing trial.

Ms. Tarkalanova graduated the University of Miami School of Law in 2012 and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and Maryland. In 2009, Ms. Tarkalanova received her Bachelors of Arts in both Anthropology and Russian from the University of Florida. Her studies were fueled by her love and appreciation of people from different cultures, faiths, and practices. She is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association DC Chapter. She is a native Bulgarian speaker, and speaks advanced Spanish and Russian.

A proud military spouse, Ms. Tarkalanova loves spending time with her family and two beloved cats. She is a dedicated reader and knitter, though she also dabbles in crochet and other crafts.
